Wolfgang Lutz院士现为社会学院特聘教授。他曾任奥地利科学院维也纳人口研究所所长、维也纳大学人口学系主任。1995年至2020年，他担任国际应用系统分析研究所（IIASA）世界人口项目负责人。自2022年6月起，他担任IIASA科学副总干事。他还是Wittgenstein人口与全球人力资本中心（IIASA、奥地利科学院和维也纳大学合作成立）的创始主任，该中心于2010年在奥地利最高科学奖Wittgenstein奖的基础上成立。此外，他还担任国际人口科学研究联盟（IUSSP）秘书长，牛津大学马丁学院教授。他曾获得过无数全球著名奖项。他是奥地利科学院、德国国家Leopoldina科学院、欧洲科学院、世界科学院（TWAS）、芬兰科学与文学学会和美国国家科学院（NAS）院士。
